Mittel's telecommuting option

The COVID-19 pandemic has sparked a surge in inquiries from us at vns Venetians about how to get employees to work from home/remotely.

一般, the Mitel solutions being utilized by our clients today offer a few options; including Call Forwarding, 双晶, IP telephony for remote workers, Mobile and/or PC soft phones.

The demand for Internet usage will increase, which may cause bandwidth issues (i.e., network service provider's capacity), which may affect the voice quality of calls made over a home Internet connection, which are used by telecommuting and soft phones.

Here is a brief definition of each option *:

Station Call Transfer: The easiest way to ensure that incoming calls are routed to your employees is to forward the extension to an external number (e.g.g., cell phone or home phone).

  • The pro view:

No special licenses or hardware are required.

  • 反对:

Only inbound calls are processed. Outbound calls need to be made from a cell phone or home phone.

Call forwarding The call forwarding to ACD has certain limitations, hunt group and ring group.

Inbound calls utilize the organization's two carrier relays; one for the original inbound call and one to forward it to the outside line. The original calling number cannot be transferred to an outside line.

If an outside line is busy/unanswered, the caller will end up on the outside voicemail.

Extended double crystal: Mobile counterpoint allows incoming calls to your desk phone extension to ring to your mobile phone at the same time.

  • The pro view:

No special licensing or hardware is required (but it does require programming for the telephone system).

In most cases, the original calling number will be forwarded to an outside line.

Busy/unanswered calls will be forwarded to Mitel voicemail and will be forwarded by the corresponding transfer (e.g., email).

  • 反对:

Only inbound calls are processed. Outbound calls need to be made from a cell phone or home phone.

There are limits relative to twin calls directly to an ACD, hunt group and ring group.

Inbound calls utilize the organization's two carrier relays.

Remote Workers: The Teleworker license allows employees to work remotely using a desktop IP phone/handheld device that provides full transmission access capabilities, voice mail, waiting messages, meetings, and other features of the office phone system. Telecommuting may require you to modify your current firewall Settings.

  • The pro view:

Enable employees to use the desktop IP phones they are accustomed to using.

Your users will still have access to all the functions of the telephone system. Outbound calls are routed through the telephone system to display the organization's Caller ID.

  • 反对:

Desktop IP phones may require additional licenses and Ethernet power adapters or wireless LAN adapters. IP phones need to be programmed to use the public IP address of the telephone system.

Additional IP phones or relocation of existing phones may be required. This may not be an option if you do not already have the required power supply for the IP phone, as the devices are already "running". Ask if BSB is available.

Soft phone: Utilize a Mitel software application running on a mobile device, tablet or computer to enable the device to function as a phone/extension of the Mitel phone system. Typically, vns Venetians use headphones that are compatible with their devices. Softphones may need to modify the current firewall Settings.

  • The pro view:

Your users will still have access to all the functions of the telephone system. Outbound calls are routed through the telephone system to display the organization's Caller ID.

  • 反对:

Additional licenses and equipment may be required to run the softphone.

Configuring a softphone to be operational is device dependent, and performance may be affected by device specifications and other applications running on the device.

* The above represent the general guidelines that our vns Venetian can choose from. The version of Mitel software running within the organization may influence their choice.

Typically, we will also work with you to resolve 911 issues related to these telecommuting solutions. BSB will not be able to do this due to the large number of requests we are processing. Depending on how long you have been using your telecommuting solution, you should plan to address your obligations in this area as time permits. In the meantime, you should advise any telecommuting employee not to call 911 from their company IP phone or Softphone.

BSB will make use of telecommuting as appropriate to ensure that our staff continue to support vns Venetians during the pandemic. Ask vns Venetian to discuss your options. We will post more information and updates as they become available 网站. Please check there for further updates.
